VOGLIA DI '80

Abbiamo già detto molto sul povero Michael Jackson e sarebbe inutile mettersi a ricordare tutte le sue hit anni ’80. Ma forse vale la pena parlare del suo più grande hit, anche più di Thriller e di Billy Jean, quello che ha permesso di raccogliere un numero enorme di fondi a vantaggio delle popolazioni meno fortunate in Africa....e infatti cantava con un gruppo superlativo da lui creato e chiamato per l'occasione "USA for Africa".
Michael Jackson avrà avuto i suoi difetti ma con “we are the world” ha creato la più grande operazione di fund raising musicale, paragonabile solo a quella effettuata da Bob Geldof e la sua Band Aid che l’anno prima, ossia nel 1984, lanciò l’altrettanto mitico “do they know it’s chrismas?”
E’ inutile negare che la musica anni ’80 era davvero incredibile come qualità e ancora oggi in discoteca l’ascoltiamo senza che ci sembri revival. A darne conferma basta dare un rapido sguardo alla hit parade del 1985 (gentile concessione dell’ottimo Hitparadeitalia):

Da notare al primo posto proprio “we are the world” davanti a tre hit cosmiche dei Duran Duran, già perché gli Arcadia altro non erano che la nuova versione della band dopo l’addio di Roger Taylor.
Ovvio che a questo punto vale la pena ascoltare questo capolavoro, magari leggendo le parole e la sequenza dei grandissimi mostri del rock che la interpretarono:
